This course is an introductory course in special education for children and youth with emotional and behavior disorders. Included in the course will be: 1) the historical development of educating students with behavior disorders, 2) etiology of behavior disorders, 3) types and characteristics of behavior disorders, and implications for amelioration, and 4) assessment, instructional practices, treatment options, programming and collaboration. A 20-hour field placement required. Prerequisite: Special Education 200 or WPI.
