This course will allow education majors to analyze and evaluate the historic background, traditions, organizational principles, policies and the function of the public school within the current context of change caused by the influences of multi-cultural factors as demonstrated by shifts in public policy, demographics, perceptions and mores of the American public. Within the context of stasis and dynamic change, the role of the public school and public school teachers will be analyzed and evaluated to answer questions regarding the role that public schools and public school teachers play to meet their historic role in an increasingly diverse society. The course consists of a required public school laboratory experience in consisting of at least 10, one-hour observation sessions.
