This course explores the essential elements of nursing in the healthcare system of the United States as it endeavors to prepare foreign nursing students with the skills necessary to continue and successfully complete their nursing education in the International Nursing Partnership. Designed for the non-native nursing student, this course will focus on socialization to the college and to the professional nursing role within the U.S. healthcare delivery system. Validation of educational, clinical and workplace competencies and clinical experiences occur to bridge practice gaps between the Philippines and the U.S. The primary goal of this course is to foster a supportive environment that provides the necessary education and resources to bridge practice differences between foreign education nursing students and the healthcare system they will encounter in the U.S (3 semester hours lecture and 3 semester hours clinical.) Prerequisite: Departmental permission.
