Statistics is a branch of mathematics concerned with collecting, organizing, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data. An understanding of statistics is critical for all students in the sciences. Course outcomes include demonstrated knowledge of exploratory data analysis techniques, experimental design, categorical data analysis, quantitative data analysis, and reporting statistical results. Skills emphasized include use of Microsoft Excel and program R for data exploration and analysis. Lecture 3 hours per week.
